Quadrupolar Relaxation – what would we do without it in High-Tc Superconductor Studies?
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper emphasizes the fact that valuable information on the dynamics of high-Tc superconductors is concealed in that part of the spin-lattice relaxation which arises from quadrupolar interactions. We briefly discuss the problem how to disentangle magnetic and quadrupolar time dependent interactions if both are present, thus leading to multiexponential magnetization recovery laws. We then discuss two examples from our studies of the high-Tc superconductor YBa2Cu4O8 where the identification of a quadrupolar contribution to the spin-lattice relaxation has been essential to draw the relevant conclusions. One example is concerned with the charge fluctuations associated with an electronic crossover showing up in the oxygen relaxation. The second example is dealing with the separation of charge and spin excitations and the validity of the single-spin fluid model.

متن کامل1 Superconductivity and spin fluctuations in the electron - doped infinitely - layered high
We report Cu NMR studies on uniaxially aligned and unaligned powder samples of an electron-doped infinitely-layered high Tc cuprate superconductor Sr0.9La0.1CuO2 (Tc =42 K). We measured the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate 1/T1 up to 800 K. We found from the temperature dependence of 1/T1T that the wave-vector-averaged spin susceptibility is highly enhanced by spin-fluctuations in the norma...

Conventional superconductors are robust diamagnets that expel magnetic fields through the Meissner effect. It would therefore be unexpected if a superconducting ground state would support spontaneous magnetics fields. Such broken time-reversal symmetry states have been suggested for the high-temperature superconductors, but their identification remains experimentally controversial. We present m...

Two decades ago the epoch making discovery of high Tc cuprate superconductivity by Bednorz and Müller shocked the world’s superconductivity community. However, already in 1979 and 1980, the first heavy fermion superconductor CeCu2Si2 and organic superconductor (TMTSF)2PF6 have been discovered respectively. Also we know now that all these superconductors are unconventional and nodal. Further t...

In a systematic approach, we have investigated the effect of the presence of Pb and Sb in the Bi site in a BSCCO (2223 phase) superconductor. There are some contradictory reports in substitution of Sb in the Bi site. Some researchers report an increase in the Tc of these materials. So, we have made an accurate stoichiometry of these superconductors and selected extra pure starting materials w...
